Wellness Hub

The Wellness Hub is an integrated, school-based mental health promotion room. The staff team consists of a mental health counsellor, off-campus coordinator, our school counsellor who works on-site with students as well as access to addiction supports, Family Support Workers and other supports. The goal of the Wellness Hub is to provide students with the support and strategies that they will require to maintain their physical and mental well-being.

The Wellness Hub is a workplace for student services to support student needs to enhance success. The space will be a hub for community resources, post-secondary information, off campus education, and wellness practices. There is an opportunity for additional support for students with homework completion (before school), attendance monitoring and individual supports necessary for student success at Redwater School.

We are committed to ensuring that every student experiences success and maximizes their learning potential. The classroom is the best place for learning but we realize that sometimes:

  • Need academic or social support;
  • Situations that interfere with learning and attendance (including valid personal or medical reasons);
  • Missing a few credits to graduate; or
  • Have outside commitments that do not work with traditional schooling

Within the Wellness Hub there are supports for students in Grade 5 - 12 by tracking attendance and making connections so students stay in school and realize success. It allows students to shape their learning to their current needs with guidance from an instructor. Students will be assisted in developing a plan which will look at providing additional resources in order to ensure that they are successful in their courses. Students may also access correspondence (ADLC) courses to assist with this plan.

The Wellness Hub is open and available to all students during unscheduled time and can be a great place to work, read, use a computer, or study. Students need to be respectful of staff and other students in the room as to not disrupt others.
